Sunshine, Sushi & Sparkling: SUMI’s Terrace Season Has Arrived

As London finally starts to show off its sunny side, there’s no better excuse to head outdoors — and the terrace at SUMI is officially open for the season. Think long lunches stretching into golden-hour cocktails, leisurely dinners with friends, and those blissful afternoons where one glass somehow turns into three.

From Thursday to Sunday, between 3pm and 5pm, SUMI’s terrace transforms into the ultimate al fresco hangout, serving up temakis, cocktails, and delicious little nibbles perfect for warm-weather grazing. Whether guests are stopping by after work or settling in for a full afternoon in the sunshine, there’s something undeniably irresistible about sushi and sparkling wine outdoors.

Speaking of sparkling wine — SUMI is celebrating terrace season properly with a special pairing that practically screams summer. Guests can enjoy a Chef’s Selection of two temakis alongside a chilled glass of Rathfinny Classic Cuvée for £30 per person. Sunshine not guaranteed in London, but this comes pretty close.

Of course, SUMI’s daily specials continue to steal the spotlight. Executive Chef Christian and his team work closely with trusted suppliers to source the freshest seasonal catch, creating dishes that are every bit as beautiful as they are delicious. Highlights include Akami zuke with French mustard, chutoro with aged garlic soy, and aburi otoro topped with kizami wasabi. There’s also shimaji nigiri, scallop gunkan crowned with caviar, and red mullet maki with mixed cress and kizami wasabi — all carefully crafted with SUMI’s signature elegance.

For those in the mood to linger a little longer, the Miyazaki cocktail is worth ordering immediately. Inspired by the famously sweet mangoes of Japan’s Miyazaki Prefecture, this vibrant drink blends gin, sake, mango-shu, and fresh lemon juice into something bright, tropical, and dangerously easy to drink. A playful twist on the classic White Lady, it’s smooth, refreshing, and tailor-made for sipping in the sunshine.

London summer dining? SUMI understood the assignment.
