There’s a quiet confidence about Kioku Sake Bar—one that lingers, much like the finish of a well-built drink. Hidden within The OWO in Whitehall, it continues to push its own boundaries, first by centring cocktails around sake, and now by turning to shochu, Japan’s deeply rooted national spirit.
This new menu feels like a natural progression. Shochu moves into focus, woven with sake and international spirits in a lineup that’s concise but expressive. Each serve is precise, layered, and thoughtfully composed.

The Yuzu Daisy brings brightness and texture, combining Iichiko Saiten Shochu, Snowman Nigori Sake and tequila with a citrus lift. The Melon 75 is lighter, sparkling and refined, pairing Mujen Ai Shochu and Awa Sparkling Nigori Sake with vermouth and soft melon notes. Meanwhile, the Ume Fizz leans fresh and fruit-forward—easy to drink, but carefully structured.
For something deeper, the Fig Leaf Highball reworks a Japanese classic with whisky, sake and a subtle green edge. The Muscat Manhattan is the most indulgent—layered, aromatic, and quietly opulent.

Shochu here isn’t a novelty; it’s a foundation. The approach feels modern, but still distinctly Japanese—balanced, restrained, and intentional.
The setting adds to the experience. With just 25 seats and inspired by traditional Japanese listening bars, Kioku remains intimate despite its grand surroundings. Since opening in 2024, it has continued to refine its craft, building one of Europe’s most notable sake collections.
This latest menu doesn’t just expand Kioku’s vision—it sharpens it. A focused exploration of flavour, where technique, heritage and innovation meet in every glass.
